Learning more about your heart rate can have great wellness benefits and can help you be proactive about your health. If you discover an inconsistency or an abnormal rate, this can prove to be a warning sign for potential health issues.

Your heart rate is simply the number of times your heart beats on a per minute basis. The rate is also commonly referred to as your pulse. As an example, if your heart beats 60 times per minute, your heart rate will be presented as 60 bpm (beats per minute).

Your fitness band will calculate your heart rate by flashing green LED lights through your skin, which will detect expansion and contraction of your blood capillaries. Your band’s capillary feature is a manifestation of heart muscle contraction and relaxation (your heart beat).

It is important to note that a normal heart rate varies based on the individual. Age can play a significant factor in what is considered to be a normal heart beat for individuals.
