Oxygen is critical to our health. It allows us to breathe, live, and thrive. This is why it is important to monitor one’s oxygen saturation rate and ensure it is within normal range.

Oxygen saturation is the percentage of oxygen in our blood stream at any given time. As we breath, oxygen is absorbed from the lungs into our blood stream. This allows the hemoglobin contained within our red blood cells to transport oxygen to all areas of our body.

By moderating heart rate and respiration rate, our body maintains a very strict balance of oxygen in our arterial blood stream. This is typically above 95%. Your fitness band will measure your oxygen saturation level by emitting light through your skin. Oxygen saturation will be reported based on how much light is absorbed by the oxygenated blood in your capillaries.

If your oxygen saturation level is abnormal, we highly recommend that you seek professional medical attention.
